This was the first selfie taken in space and is now up for auction

Without a doubt, space hides incredible surprises and if there's something we'd like to have in our hands, it's the first selfie taken there.

NASA recently shared the most sinister sounds from space for Halloween and made thousands of images from space available for download for enthusiasts. But, did you ever imagine that your first selfie taken outside of this planet would be up for sale? Probably not. In 1966, in outer space, astronauts took what is considered the first selfie in space.

Christie's London Auctions is selling what is considered the first selfie captured in space, taken by Buzz Aldrin in 1966 during the Gemini XII mission. You can see the image below:

As of now, the auction is over $ 4,000, but you can still participate in case you wish to have it. You can do this directly at this link . You still have 3 and a half days left for this photo to be yours.

The auction house estimates that this image could sell for at least $ 8,000, a collector's item that will certainly be of much greater value in a few years to come with what can be understood as a vehicle for long-term investment.

Christie's London press release reads:

"Through their cameras, the astronauts-turned-artists were able to transmit the beauty and depth of their space experience to humanity, forever changing the way we see ourselves and our place in the universe."
